Highway 22 – Overnight detour for temporary overpass bridge deck set up

During the night of Monday December 5, 2022 traffic will be detoured on Highway 22 between Highway 8 and Highway 1, south of Springbank Road (see location on map below).

The overnight detour is required to allow placement of a temporary bridge deck for construction.

Traffic detouring will begin at 9 pm. Onsite workers will move a preassembled bridge deck segment into place with the assistance of a heavy mobile crane placed on Highway 22.

Flaggers will be onsite directing traffic. Please obey all posted speed limits, directions and signage. Short term traffic stoppages can be anticipated throughout the night.

The temporary construction overpass, once built, will remain in place for several construction seasons while hauling proceeds as part of the Springbank Reservoir Project continues. A height restriction for traffic on Highway 22 will be limited to 5.4 metres. Visit 511 Alberta for updated information regarding traffic and road conditions.
